Higashi-Hida lies in the southern part of Yasugi City, Shimane Prefecture, Situated on an altitude of 380 metres on the foothills of Mt. Sarugakure
- the highest mountain in Yasugi City.
The clean air and water are our treasures.
While summers are pleasantly cool, winters bring temperatures dropping below -6℃ (21 °F) with significant snowfall,
creating dramatic seasonal temperature variations.
Our land is suitable for producing fresh and tasty agricultural production.

Surrounded by mountains with abundant nature, Nagata community (hereinafter called Nagata) may appear at first glance to be a quiet countryside community, however, it contains immeasurable charm. The clean air and water, and beautiful nature - from shiba-zakura to sunflowers - heal the hearts of all who visit.
What is truly remarkable about this place is the warmheartedness and consideration of its people. The traditional neighborly relationships, which have largely abandoned in city areas, are still exist here, with residents caring for and supporting one another. When someone needs support, whether it's clearing snow or heavy lifting, others immediately lend a hand. This spirit of natural mutual support is alive in this community.
The people of Nagata extend their kindness and gentleness even to outsider. Their way of life, deeply rooted in this land and overflowing with human warmth, teaches us precious values that are gradually disappearing from modern society.

Higashi-hida, blessed with rich farmland soil and claen water, is known for its productive rice farming. The rice grown here is trademark registered as 'Sarugakure kogen Hida-mai®', enchanting many with its quality and taste.
Throughout the seasons, various fresh vegetables are also grown here. At the local farm stand, freshly picked produce, carefully grown by six local ladies farmers.
These agricultural products are vital to the region's food culture. The brand-name rice, the pride of the region, and fresh vegetables grown with care by local farmers are precious treasures that enrich Higashi-hida's food culture.

Spring brings a beautiful blanket of flowers to Nagata's. Over 100,000 shiba-zakura plants cover more than 13,000 square meters, with red, white, and pink blooms delighting both residents and visitors. Their sweet scent creates nature's perfume, relaxing every visitor.
These shiba-zakura withstand the cold winter under snow, bursting into vibrant bloom when warm spring sunlight returns. Their vitality brings courage and hope to people.
Spreading across the hillside, this colorful carpet of shiba-zakura is nature's artwork, creating a special space away from daily life. This spring landscape has become Nagata's cherished healing oasis.
