The challenge of the 'Nagata-Matsumoto Joint Conference for the Revitalization'.

　Facing the challenges dealing with Japan's rural areas head-on and creating villages that can be passed on to the next generation - this is 'regional revitalization.'" We have united for this purpose. To protect the beautiful rural landscape and farmland of the Sarugakure in Higashi-Hida, Hirose-cho, Yasugi City, Shimane, Japan, Nagata and Matsumoto community have united their hearts and taken a new step forward together in 2025, based on the Nagata community's work on Shiba-zakura (creeping phlox), which began in 2014.

 

"Shiba-zakura Landscape Development": Working together with residents, we plant shiba-zakura on slopes to create beautiful

                                                                            landscapes while reducing maintenance needs.

"Contribution to rural development" : When rural communities thrive and farmland is properly maintained, it leads to increased

                                                                      domestic crop production and improved food self-sufficiency, while fostering local

                                                                      economic growth through regional agriculture.

​"Promoting local attractions and exchange creation" : We share rural values with the next generation through shiba-zakura 

                                                                                                   festivals and internship programs. Our rural communities are defined by

                                                                                                   their beautiful landscapes, nature, rice, fresh vegetables, and residents who

                                                                                                   embrace traditional Japanese warmth - creating places where hope flourishes.

　We strongly believe that effort will give new vitality into the villages, just like the shiba-zakura blossoms on rice paddies. The 'Nagata-Matsumoto Joint Conference for the Revitalization' will work together with the local people to accomplish our initiative.
